The Chain Rule

Apply the nice Chain Rule: \frac{d y}{d x}=\frac{d y}{d u}\frac{d u}{d x} to ln(-2t) where:

y=ln (u) and  u =-2t

then

 \frac{d y}{d u}=1/u and  \frac{d u}{d t}=-2

so by the Chain Rule:

 \frac{d y}{d t}=\frac{d y}{d u}\frac{d u}{d t}=\frac{1}{-2t}\times-2=\frac{1}{t}
